City of Meridian Accepting Applications for Planning & Zoning, Arts, and Solid Waste Advisory Commissions

MERIDIAN, ID – The City of Meridian is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Meridian Planning & Zoning, Arts, and Solid Waste Advisory Commissions. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 31, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.
 
Planning & Zoning Commission
The Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission advises City leaders on planning policies, including land use, zoning, transportation, and housing policies and goals. It is comprised of up to nine voting members who are appointed to serve three-year terms. Its members generally meet on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Meridian City Hall. Members of this group serve on a voluntary basis and receive no financial compensation. More information is available on the Planning and Zoning Commission's webpage.

Meridian Arts Commission
The Meridian Arts Commission (MAC)  contributes to our City's identity, fosters civic pride, and celebrates the many creative assets in our community. Members of the Arts Commission advise the Mayor and City Council on issues and policies and promote public awareness related to arts and culture throughout the City. The commission is comprised of up to nine voting members who are appointed to serve three-year terms. Meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the City Council's Chambers at Meridian City Hall. Members of this group serve on a voluntary basis and receive no financial compensation. More information is available on the Meridian Arts Commission's webpage.

Solid Waste Advisory Commission
The Meridian Solid Waste Advisory Commission advises the Mayor and City Council regarding new or amended rules, regulations, policies, and fees related to the City's solid waste collection system. The commission is comprised of up to nine voting members who are appointed to serve three-year terms. Meetings are generally held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council's Chambers at Meridian City Hall. Members of this group serve on a voluntary basis and receive no financial compensation. More information is available on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission's webpage.

 
In addition to the application, a letter of interest and resume should be submitted with the completed application. Applications can be submitted online or delivered to Mayor Simison at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, ID., 83642. All applications should be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025The successful applicant, who must reside within Meridian’s city limits or its area of impact, will be appointed by Mayor Simison and confirmed by the Meridian City Council.
